Here at the Village, we love our team. Recently, we asked each team member a few questions about their role, passion, and aspirations. Enjoy!

Ms. Vanessa Garcia

What is your name and what do you do for HCV?

Vanessa Garcia – Currently I am the Interim Program Manager for Bridge to College. This past school year, I coordinated the Scholar Project after-school program.

What do you enjoy most about your position?

That I get to help youth learn about themselves, learn what they are interested in and passionate about and then try to connect them to opportunities that give them experiences in that area. It is the best feeling ever when you help connect a youth to an opportunity that could be game changing for them and their futures and it validates them as a human being and their goals and desires. Sometimes youth growing up in challenging environments don’t get to dream and hope for things in the future so if I can give them that in any way and get them to think that it could be attainable and then help them take the steps they need to to make it a reality then I have done my service to them.

What are your aspirations for HCV?

My aspirations for HCV are that we become more aligned as an organization and the services we provide and the community we serve. I think that our organization has great intentions, talented and educated committed passionate dedicated people and viable partnerships and I want us to be even better, serve more community members and make more of a collective impact on Homewood families and children.

Dr. Allen Lane

For HCV to go global and for Homewood to be the model for similar communities across the country to emulate our approach.
