EITC Program

Support innovative educational programs in exchange for a reduction in state tax through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program. Your company’s charitable giving becomes a low-cost gift when you redirect your state business taxes to a participating Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) like Homewood Children’s Village.

Help Homewood students graduate from high school ready to succeed in college, career, and life!

Contributions to HCV through the EITC program allow companies to support our K-12 out-of-school-time (OST) college and career readiness programming while also receiving a significantly smaller state tax bill. Because we believe all Homewood students should achieve academically, thrive socially, plan for the future, and succeed in school and life, we offer programs designed to create pathways to success. By supporting Homewood students from kindergarten through high school, they become engaged in learning and excited about their future at a young age, which they carry throughout and into their post-secondary years.

How does the EITC program work?

  • Tax credits may be applied directly against the tax liability of a business for the tax year in which the contribution was made.
  • Tax credits equal to 75 percent of its contribution up to a maximum of $750,000 per taxable year.
  • Credits can be increased to 90 percent of the contribution if the business agrees to provide the same amount for two consecutive tax years.
  • Companies may pass tax savings on to shareholders.

How To Apply

  • All applicants are required to submit applications electronically through dced.pa.gov. The business application guide explains the process of applying. Businesses must apply specifically for Educational Improvement Organizations (EIO) credits if they wish to support HCV’s programs.
  • New businesses may apply beginning July 1. Applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis by date submitted. Corporations that are already registered can simply select HCV as a recipient.
  • The Department of Community and Economic Development will send an approval letter to businesses awarded educational improvement tax credits. The business has 60 days to send its philanthropic contribution to Homewood Children’s Village.
  • HCV will issue a gift acknowledgment upon notification, which the business must send to the Department of Community & Economic Development within 90 days of the original approval letter.
  • After sharing this written acknowledgment with the department, the business will receive the amount of tax credits outlined in the original approval letter.
